MID Server Generating 204 and 401 via Guest User

I am a Junior Systems Administrator supporting an environment that uses a few MID servers.  The ISSO has noticed that a couple of MID servers are generating numerous 401 errors via the Guest User account.  Another MID server is generating a 204 error via the Guest User account also.  I thought that the MID servers only use the "soap.guest" account.   I have visited many websites and have yet to land on a site that explains why the Guest User is involved with the MID server's communication back to the instance/ECC Queue or the handshake that would cause these two errors.  Does anyone have any idea as to where I should direct my troubleshooting efforts?

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Hi @Sloan D_,

Any chance system has some integration via the MID and third party is sending guest account ( or no valid user ) for creating/updating the record.

And where exactly this 401 and 204 error showing .. any log details.

-Thanks,

Thank you for the quick response, Ashish!  The errors are generated by the Instance in response to the MID servers.  I will see what additional information I am allowed to reveal when I return to work tomorrow.  Meanwhile, I will see if I can discover or detect any third-party system.

Thanks again!

Thank you very much for your suggestion, Ashish!

The errors are the instance's response to incoming connections into the ECC Queue.  These connections are bombarding the instance.

I viewed the different logs suggested by Harish and asked my team.  My team informed me that there is a separate Load Balancer managing the traffic specifically to our MID servers!  I am beginning to think that this might be the "third party" integration that you were referring to!  But, I am still perplexed as to why it would be using a Guest User account.

My troubleshooting resumes!  Nonetheless, I believe I have found a direction to my troubleshooting!  Thanks again!

HI

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

1.  Check MID Server Credentials

2. Review MID Server Logs

3. Check Connection Settings

4. Check  ECC Queue Entries
