Ownership group in knowledge managment

Hi All,

I have an query about knowledge article,

If a knowledge article is not associated to any ownership group, does it means that no one will be able to edit that article even also author.

Because I found that there is an article in our client environment who is only editable with admin not even author is able to edit that.so i am guessing is it because its not associated with any Ownership group?

If any idea on this kindly share with me.

Thanks,

Hi @Appy2 ,
I trust you are doing great.

  1. Ownership Group Association:

    • If a Knowledge Article is not associated with any Ownership Group, it doesn't necessarily mean that no one, besides the admin, can edit it. Other factors like the author's roles and permissions also play a part.
  2. Roles and Permissions:

    • The author might not have the necessary roles or permissions to edit the article. Common roles related to Knowledge Management are knowledge_admin or knowledge_writer.
  3. Article State:

    • The state of the article (Published, Retired, Draft, etc.) also affects who can edit it. Ensure the article is in a state that allows for editing.
  4. ACLs (Access Control Lists):

    • ACL rules might be restricting access. Custom ACLs can be set up to define specific editing permissions.

To solve the issue you’re encountering, here’s what you can do:

  • Check the Ownership Group:

    • Ensure that the article is associated with an appropriate Ownership Group that includes the author.
  • Review Roles and Permissions:

    • Make sure the author has the necessary roles and permissions to edit the article.
  • Adjust ACLs:

    • Review and modify the ACLs if they are limiting the author’s ability to edit the article.
