Parent-Child Relationships Between Groups

When adding a group as child of another group, does it also add the members of child group to parent?

If not, does doing this makes sense to do this? Have you came across such a scenario? What could be pro's or con's of doing this?

My question is more or less strictly related to adding a member to the parent group if he is a member of child group (Adding a actual record to membership table). I feel someone would have gone through this process earlier and wanted to know if there is actually any benefits in doing so.

Think the benefits will be different depending on the reson why you want/need to do it. We have this problem where I just haven't gotten the time to fix it automatically with a BR, but here is our case.

We have a group call "Change Managers" where we add those who can act as Change Manager at our place. Now we also have a child group called CAB Approval which handles some specific changes. Now, if I add a person to the Change Managers I want it to also be added the the CAB Approval group. If I don't do this, they will not get the approvals records when they are created for a specific change.

So for us, we needed to have users on both groups, since we use the Change Managers group for other stuff as well.
