Hello,
I am looking at how we can utilise PowerBI for ServiceNow data (currently only Incidents).
Following the steps here - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-connect-to-servicenow I am trying to configure the initial connection however I get the following error;
Failed to update data source credentials: The credentials provided for the ServiceNow source are invalid. (Source at https://myinstance.service-now.com/.)

Status code: | 400 |

I am trying to connect to a sub-production instance that doesn't have SSO enabled, using a user account that has basic authentication and the 'rest_service' role. I've reset the account password to something basic for testing and still unable to authenticate.
Has anyone come across this issue before that can offer any insight?

OK so this turn out to be a simple issue - IP address for the hosted PowerBI instance was not in our SN instance allowed list 🙂
Leaving this post and solution up incase anyone stumbles across this in future.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for leave your post!
Did you allowed IP address in SN trough "ip_access" table?
And... only one more question: did you have download the ODBC driver?
I am consulting this site https://www.cdata.com/drivers/servicenow/download/odbc/ but I dont know if that is correct.
The client asked me to allow a connection to his BI, so I'm still studying how to do it (first time).
Thanks in advanced.

Can anyone explain "IP address for the hosted Power BI instance"? Is this the IP for the Power BI web service or the IP of an on prem, self-hosted instance of Power BI?
I'm currently getting the same error when setting up a refresh schedule from Power BI service pointed at the ServiceNow cloud. Any help is appreciated.

Hi
You can consider Power BI Connector as a means to integrate both platforms and pull ServiceNow data into Power BI for further use.
Cheers,
Anna
