When using Visual task boards, the action OF moving a task from the "To Do" lane, to the "Doing" lane, doesn't affect the status field in the task.
I want the status To auto update from status "New" to status "Work in progress", when the task is draged Into the "Doing" lane.
How to activate that function?

Sounds like you're using a Freeform board as opposed to a Guided board. To achieve what you're trying to do, pull up a list view of Incidents. Right-click on the column "State" and click "Show Visual Task Board".
This will create a Guided VTB in which each lane represents the state of an Incident. On this Guided VTB, if you drag a card from one lane to another, it will update the "State" field for the Incident.

Great answer!
Can I add 2 Q on the same theme?
Is it possible to configure Free Boards to preform the automatic change of task status?
It would be great to have a full over view of all my work (tasks) in the same view/board.
Is it possible to merge INC boards with REQ boards etc, to build a board that shows all my different "tasks" in the same board and still get the auto update of the status field, when moving a task from lane "new" to lane "doing"?
If possible, how do I do it?

Hi John,
In that case you have to create the VTB on Task table(based on assignment group or assigned to), the state field is from the task table only so there should be no issue in editing it also. I do use it the same way.
