Related List Edit Button Slushbucket

When you click the EDIT button on a related list, a page appears with a slushbucket from which you select the record to add.

When you click on a row fields display below the slushbucket.

I want to change what fields display.

I have tried creating a sys_popup view and a sys_rel_list view,

and neither of these work

the only field that displays is the field marked display = true.

anyone have a solution?
