Service Portal Column Splitter Not Working Properly

I am creating a request form on the Service Portal that has certain sections that have two columns (using a Container with Layout "2 Columns Wide, alternating side".

So here are some screen shots:

Seems pretty straightforward, but it is not working like I expect.   It is putting the first field in the container in column 1, and the second in column 2, but then it is putting the third in column 2 instead of column 1.   See below:

Anyone know why it would do this or how to fix it?

Thanks

EDIT: Interestingly, if I just click on "Try It" from the Catalog Item and it brings it up in the old Service Catalog view, it looks correct.   It just doesn't look correct on the Service Portal.

Here is what it looks like with "Try It".

Is this another one of those Service Catalog things that just really doesn't translate over well on Service Portal?

How about, if you actually use a Container split between Container Start and Container End. That should resolve your issue.

It was my understanding that if you use one of the two "Two Column" layout options in the Container Start variable, you would not need to use the Container Split variable.   Is that not the case?

I have four fields between the Container Start and Container End variables.   Where would I place the Container Split?

If you say after the second variable, then would this really just be re-creating the "2 columns Wide, one side, then the other" Layout, which already works fine?

What I am after is the "2 columns Wide, alternating sides" option.

So they layout would look like this:

Variable1                   Variable2

Variable3                   Variable4

And NOT like this:

Variable1                   Variable3

Variable2                   Variable4

I realize that I could rearrange my fields in order to use the "one side, then the other" layout and make it look like the first example, but the variables would not be in the correct order if you tab through them.

Yes. You are correct. I dont see any other option other than reordering the variables and use "one side, then the other" or raise a HI ticket with ServiceNow saying your 2 column alternate side doesn't work in Service Portal.

OK.   Thanks.

I am not sure if creating a HI ticket will accomplish much.   They already acknowledge that there are some things which just don't translate over well.

From past experience, usually the answer is to create your own Widget (and I am not quite that proficient yet to do that!)
