Should I copy an OOTB Workflow before making changes to it? (change request, for example)

Hello everyone,

Considering the upgrade recommendations to keep the most OOTB as possible to account for new features, should I, in the case of Change Request, for example, copy the workflow in its original state, make the changes in the copy, and replace the calls to the previous Workflow, or just work on the original one?

Sergio, 

The Best Practice for editing/modifying OOB workflows is to copy the existing workflow and set the OOB workflow to inactive after publishing the edited version.
