SNOW changes appearance

Hello.

Please, I have an issue here regarding the way how SNOW is looking. It started on 3.3.2022.

First attachment: GoodPicture => How SNOW should look like.

find_real_file.png

Second attachment => How SNOW is suddenly changed...

find_real_file.png

Now I am on San Diego release, but the issue started on Rome release...I did not touch any UI setting or anything related to look of the Snow.

On the Rome release...

find_real_file.png

It simply happens. I refresh the page and the look of the page is changed...

I am using Chrome web-browser. I cleared all the caches (in Snow itself too) and cookies.

I found only one possible "workaround" which is to Log off and on again. Then I can refresh the page and it is back to normal again. Sometime I have to it more then often, it starting to be very annoying...

Please, does this happened to someone else too? Any ideas what to do ?

thank you

Ales

Hello,

It appears your profile may be set to using UI15 which would cause this discrepancy.

The Next Experience UI (that modern purple looking theme, etc.) is from San Diego.

You may want to check your profile and see if you have UI15 selected before the transition to Next Experience UI.

This is an example of being on UI16 and switching to UI15:

Thank you. Yes I think the problem is in the UI 15/16 setting.

But i checked that and on my customers Rome release I am on UI16 for surefind_real_file.png

But then this happens:find_real_file.png

Part of the view looks normal, but the pop up window is changed to UI15...

When I close the pop up window and refresh the page then it all changes to UI15, but I can see on the page in different tab that I am still on UI16...

It is very weird... 😞

Hi,

This wouldn't just randomly happen though. Had you previously been changing your view or messing around with compact view/UI15/UI16, etc.? Or had in the past?

Anyways, you can check your user preference (search left-hand navigation) and look for the record named: use.concourse, if the value is "true" then your UI is set to UI16. Maybe you don't have a preference set for this? If so, create it (type = string) and see if that works? or change it to true if false?

Hello, Andreas.

Thank you for your effort.

I discovered when this bug (I assume that it is a bug in SNOW) is turned on.

I created simple catalog item and I used two ajax calls to script include to fill values to fields on the form.

The first field was 'requested for' type and did not cause any problems. I had to fill 'requestor email' on the form.

The second was 'device' and I had to fill the 'serial number' value.

The second one was 'reference' type (cmdb_ci table) and once I wanted to use this ajax call to fill the 'serial number' on the form then it caused the issue which I described earlier. It worked as expected, serial number was there on the form, but there was this change in the view too...

It happened on every item I've created...

I did not touch any settings related to view.

I tried a lot: to delete all the caches (SNOW and browser) and cookies, different browsers ( Chrome and Edge), different SNOW releases San Diego and Rome...

But the bug was still there.

The only way how to make it right again was to log off and on to the instance again.

I asked our senior developers, but unfortunately we did not find any solution.  They all have never seen such a thing before...

At the end I tried not to use the ajax call for the problematic variable. I used simple 'g_form.getParameter' and the bug suddenly disappeared!

The catalog item works as expected without any problems...I did not use ajax to fill all the fields, which was one part of my task, but under these circumstances I do not find it as a problem...

I hope it is just unlucky combination of some factors, which I hopefully will not repeat and It won't pursue me in the future.

Regards

Ales
