Step based flow stages with meaning

Does anyone know of a way to get useful stage information showing to the user when using the OOTB Step Based Flow?

Whilst it is nice and easy to create a catalog Item and add multiple approvals and tasks, it doesn't update the requestor at all as to what stages their request needs to go through (ie: manager approval, security approval, HR approval, fulfillment task to add part A followed by another fulfillment task to provide part B etc) and certainly doesn't update the requestor at all as each approval or task is requested and completed.

All it gives is -

  • Service fulfillment process
  • Closed Incomplete
  • Completed

Not very helpful when the catalog item has more than 1 step really.

Anyone got an idea/solution other than creating a seperate flow for each catalog item?

Anyone at all?

This is too hard? No one has replied even though it's been viewed 40 times?

Not surprised - seems like it's not possible?

Moedeb-

I am also looking for a solution to this issue. I know we are able to make a copy of the OOTB flow and then can add steps before and after the base subflow, but that doesn't actually solve the issue of having meaningful stages. I am looking to add approval stages so need to be able to have the stage change once the approval is completed, but not before.

Yeah the only way I can think of that this would be possible is to either have Stages able to be set in a sub flow (which I think everyone wants) or to some how move the actions of the sub flow into another flow and some how call them from each other?
