Trying to select field from table not available in form design

I'm trying to modify a tab I've added to my change form.   I want to include a field I added to the task table called "pilot".   However, when modifying the change form the task table isn't available (makes sense) so I'm not able to select the field I want.   I think I've done this before were you can make a field available from a table but can't seem to recall how it was done. I thought it was done by doing a reference (setting display to true) but that didn't seem to work.   How do I make this field (or the table) available in the list for doing form design?

I'm a bit confused. Please let me know where my assumptions are incorrect.

You created a new field on task.

You are modifying the form layout on change.

When you look in the left column of the slushbucket, you are not seeing your new field.

Task fields are not listed separate, but intermixed with the change (or in my image below, incident) fields since they are all virtually part of the same change table.

Hi Mark,

If you added a field to task, then it's available to the change form.

If it's a reference field and you want to dot-walk (e.g. get a value from a parent record), you cannot do this via the form designer, you need to use Form Layout. Use the form menu and select Configure> Form Layout and you can select the reference field, then the icon that shows up in the middle between the two columns and drill in to the fields available on the reference.

Sorry, I misstated and I was using form layout and not form design.   However, the task table isn't showing up when I try to edit the form layout so I'm not able to drill down to the field by dot walking.

It's the last one in the list - Priority, that I added to the task table.   Neither the task table or this individual field show up when I go to the form layout.
