Unable to migrate Cosmetic changes on the Dashboard via Update set

Hello Experts,

I am facing issues while migrating my Dashboard changes via Update set from Instance-1 to Instance-2.

Steps that I followed :

1) Logged into Instance-1 and created an Update set and made it my current update set

2) Created 4 New Reports.

3) Created a New Dashboard.

4) Added the newly created Reports into the Dashboard by clicking on Add Widgets option on the Dashboard.

5) Re-aligned the Reports on the Dashboard as per my requirement.

6) Changed the State of the update set to Closed Complete.

7) Logged into Instance-2 and opened update sources and clicked on "Retrieve Completed Update Sets".

😎 Opened my Update set and found Error messages on top. Clicked on "Run Preview Again" but it failed and the errors persisted.

9) Below are some of the Error types I can see on the Page :

 > Remote Update : pa_Tab_sysId  ; Description : Could not find record in sys_portal_page for column page referenced in this update.

> Remote Update : sys_grid_canvas_sysid : Description : Could not find a record in sys_portal_page for column legacy_page referenced in this update.

> Remote Update : sys_grid_canvas_sysid : Description : Could not find a record in sys_portal for the column portal_widget referenced in this update.

I tried both Accept and Skip remote updates , but my Dashboard is loaded EMPTY every-time. I have to then manually add the reports on the Dashboard in Instance-2.

Could anyone guide me through this issue. I would want the cosmetic changes on the Dashboard to be migrated along with the update set instead of manually modifying the dashboard in new instances.

Thanks.

Hi Kiara,

Dashboards are not captured in update sets, you will have to follow a different approach to capture the changes and to move to other instances.

Follow Move a dashboard with an update set

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Raj

Thanks Raj. I did check that approach right after I posted the question 🙂

I went to the Dashboard Properties and then clicked on "Add to Update Set" and Then i also clicked on "Unload Dashboard".

Finally migrated to Instance-2 and it worked !

That's great to hear 🙂
