upgrade downtime questions

Will there be a downtime during upgrade?

How long does upgrade take?

Will users who are already logged in will still be able to login?

Will users be logged out if they are logged in during upgrade?

Will users be able to login during the upgrade?

Is there a way to disable users during upgrade and enable them after upgrade, if yes, how to do it?

What happens to all the Scheduled Jobs which will be running during upgrade?

Will there be a flash page which says “upgrade is going on do not login” created by ServiceNow as it shows during patching? Also, can we create a static page showing “upgrade is going on do not login” if users login during upgrade?

Hi KayRao,

This below links answers a few of your questions.

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/paris-release-notes/page/release-notes/upgrades/reference/upgrade...

Although you won't have downtime exactly, full functionality isn't there.

When we upgraded to Paris it took around two hours.

Everyone should be able to log in and remain logged in during this time.

As per the link above, scheduled jobs won't run during the upgrade.

We conduct upgrades early on a Sunday morning to avoid issues as this is when the fewest number of people will be working.

Thanks

Alex

Hi,

Thanks. So if someone create an Incident during upgrade, can this still be worked upon during upgrade?

Hi KayRao,

Yeah, incidents can still be worked on.

Thanks
