How to redirect users who want to view KB articles directly to the custom portal view and to most recent one. There is the is an OOB solution to achieve the end goal. Which is that OOB Feature.

Not sure what you mean with your second sentence. And your question needs clarification. Because what you are saying is that you want an OOB feature to direct users to a custom view. OOB and custom don't go together in this context.

DId you checked on this  OOB configuration where you can force the Service Portal to redirect the user to the latest version automatically.

You can Navigate While viewing an article from the Service Portal, Ctrl + right-click in the KA header and click on "Instance Options"
