View SNMP traps in ServiceNow

Hi Community

Just wondering where can I see SNMP traps in ServiceNow.

MID server has downloaded MIBs successfully and SNMP Trap collection started as well with no error. We also have Event Management Application activated.

Once the trap is sent from the vendor, Can I see the trap to the Mid server log to the agent\logs folder ?

if not, how do I verify that a trap has been received by ServiceNow?

Thanks

Ak

Yes there are in the wiki. If not sure, please let me know.

Hi Ak,

Could you please guide me with some steps/link or KB, I have already configured SNMP trap collector and activated event management application. Still now able to see any trap in em_event table.

Hi Raaj,

you need to attach all MIB files under MID server application with valid MIBS, and then restart MID server and verify MID server downloaded all MIBS from ServiceNOW to MID server.

Then SNMP traps need to be sent to MID server. Make sure there is no firewall between MID Server and your SNMP Trap sender. If SN receives traps succesfully, you will see them under Events.

Thats all.

Thanks

Hi AK,

Couldn't get time on this after your last comment. I did try to import few MIBs from windows server to MID server--> SNMP MIB but still no success. Surely i am missing any step after enabling trap receiver. Do i need to configure SNMP trap services on windows server.

Could you please help me to find out the missing link according to your steps.

Thanks

Raj

Hi Raj,

You need to add all the MIBs within ServiceNow with specific format, please refer to wiki. Once all MIBs are uploaded to ServicNow, please restart your MID server and verify all MIBs are downloaded to MID server agent/work/mibs folder. Then send the trap to MID sever.

please let me know if its all good.

Thanks
