Why am I not able to edit KB field when article is in published state?

I am not able edit the KB filed after article is published though I have admin access. The article is created using standard template of knowledge base. I am able to edit the kb field for the remaining article templates when the article is in published state. If this is an OOB behavior, then where can I find the configuration of the standard template as this template is not available in article template table. please see the attached image of the article is in published state and created using the standard template of kb.

Hi @Asishkumar

If the article versioning feature is enabled, the author cannot edit the article if it is already checked out by the contributor. If the feature is disabled, any users with contribute access to an article can edit the draft version of the article. An administrator can disable the article versioning feature by setting the glide.knowman.versioning.enabled property (from the System Property [sys_properties] table) to false.

You can edit a knowledge article by clicking the Edit button at the top of any article.

Click Checkout to open the article editor. This creates a new version of the article for you to edit, while the original stays published and in circulation. Once your edited version is approved, it will replace the original in circulation.

Refer this article for more details.

This will definitely helps you to resolved your issue. Let me know in case you need to understand the flow or you can DM on LinkedIn.

when i am testing out this property its working fine for the templates apart from "standard" template and I am able to edit the KB field when the article is in published state without creating any version of the same.
In the SS I am able to edit the KB field when the article is in published state without checking out it and without using the edit button because I have the admin access i am able to override.

Hi @Asishkumar ,

  • If an ownership group is associated with a knowledge article, the author or reviser of the article can't contribute to the article after the article is published. An administrator can override this behavior by enabling the glide.knowman.ownership_group.override property. For more information, see Ownership groups.
