  1. Now Assist-powered Task Summaries for Approvals

We’re excited to introduce Now Assist-powered Task Summaries for Approvals, a simple way for approvers to see a clear and structured summary of their approval tasks.

Approvers often receive requests without enough context to understand what is being asked, why it is needed, or what actions have already been taken. Task Summarization reduces this overhead by automatically generating a concise summary that highlights the most important details. Approvers can review the request, its purpose, and any prior activity in one place, enabling faster and more confident decisions without leaving the task view.

This improves productivity for employees by reducing context switching and enables organizations to deliver support and resources more efficiently, right within the flow of work.

From the My Task page in the Employee Center portal, approvers can open any approval task, including HR cases, requested items, or RITM approvals. Depending on the configuration, a summary will appear automatically when the task opens, or it can be generated manually with a click. Each summary is contextual, presented directly within the task view, and respects access permissions so approvers only see information they are authorized to view. This improves both accuracy and efficiency in the approval process.

We’re launching Task Summarization with three ready-to-use skills:

  • HR Case approvals
  • Requests approvals (REQ approvals)
  • Requested Items (RITM approvals)

Admins can enable these skills directly from the Now Assist Admin Console by navigating to Now Assist Admin > Skills and selecting Now Assist Skills for Employee Center. From there, they can:

  • Turn summarization skills on or off for specific approval types
  • Customize prompts to fit organizational needs
  • Manage settings and control access
  • Choose the trigger between auto-generated summaries or manual summaries on demand

This all works without changes to existing task configurations, giving admins flexibility while keeping setup simple and contained within the console.

  1. Company News and Events AI Agent  (Requires Employee Center Pro)

We’re introducing the Company News & Events AI Agent, designed to keep employees informed and engaged by bringing personalized news and event updates directly into a conversational experience.

Instead of searching across portals or browsing multiple pages, employees can now ask for the latest news and upcoming events in plain language. Whether it’s “What’s happening in Santa Clara?”, “Show me events next week,” or “Get the latest news on 401k,” the AI Agent delivers relevant updates instantly within the chat interface.

This AI agent for Company News and Events makes it easy for the employees to stay up to date by ensuring:

  • Provides a personalized digest of company news and events tailored to user prompts
  • Summarizes detailed articles or event information for quick, clear reading
  • Supports filters by time and location (e.g., local news, events this month, etc.)
  • Enables follow-up prompts to see more, drill into details, or take action such as RSVPing or joining a waitlist

For admins to activate the Company News & Events AI Agent, they must configure it in AI Agent Studio and make it available through Now Assist in Virtual Agent. The setup involves:

  • Verifying the agent’s status is active in AI Agent Studio > Overview
  • Selecting the assistant where the agent should be available (default is Now Assist in Virtual Agent)
  • Enabling the Display option
  • Navigating to sys_properties.list and updating the system property sn_aia.enable_va_conversation to true so responses appear in Virtual Agent conversations

Important: The agent does not support Now LLM. Customers using Now LLM as their model provider must switch to one of the supported providers, manually activate the agent, and repeat activation if they switch providers again.
