Adding placeholder text on Employee Center Pro with AI Search enabled

Hi everyone, 

Trying to update the placeholder text in the homepage Search widget on an EC Pro Portal. It seems like the widget behaves differently depending on is AI search is enabled for the platform or not. In a platform without AI Search I can easily change the placeholder text as follows: 

In an AI enabled Instance I get a different result, well actually no result: 

Does anyone know if there is a different place I need to update this placeholder text if the instance and portal are both AI search enabled? I have seen in branding that the structure of the widget changes when you enable AI search, and elements you can brand when AI search is not enabled cannot be branded when it is.

I found customization on the Type ahead Search Widget that is causing this to occur. Leaving this here as a reference for anyone else experiencing the same issue.
