Cross-Country Content Access

Hello!

 

Currently we are challenged with a difficult requirement from the business.
Please see the current situation and requirement below, as well with the proposed solution from ServiceNow.

 

Current situation:

Currently links are shown based on audience (what country they are in and what roles they have).

 

Requirement :
Managers need to access cross country portal links on Employee Center to know/see the different links for their employees based in other countries.

For example: Learning Link in Poland and Learning link in Sweden (some links could be Global).

 

Solution suggested by ServiceNow is:

  • Give back-end access to those managers.
  • Give impersonator role to managers

The problem we have with this solution is that it’s difficult for managers to browse the system and check for each content. And the impersonator role allows them to impersonate anyone, which is something not preferable.

 

Does anyone have another solution to tackle this requirement?

Hey Wessel-

 

We have a similar requirement that we are working through.  We do use Manager Hub which allows for a manager to "Search As" one of their direct reports.  This has worked pretty well for us, but we still run into the scenario of managers supporting multiple levels of reports, dotted line reporting, etc where this does not work. 

 

My going in position for solving this is through User criteria.  So for those things that should be seen by a manager and their reports (downward), the user criteria would be to set that content visible to the managers country and any of their direct reports countries.  We have not started working on this yet, but can keep you posted on our progress.
