Forum users in ESC pro communities

I’m currently working on the Communities and Forums feature available in ESC Pro. The customer wants to create separate forums for each department and sub-department and ensure that users can only access the forum associated with their own department.

After reviewing the Forum Users table and sn_communities_members, I noticed that access can only be granted to individual users or users in sys_user_group table. 

Since the customer’s existing structure is based on cmn_department, do you have any suggestions on how to achieve this requirement?

This is not available OOB and even if you create the department dropdown that will not work. This can be a candidate for enhancement request to ServiceNow.
