How to create custom menu items in the Employee Center Global Header

Was wondering if anyone has figured out how to create custom menu items in the global header. We do not want use the 'more' dropdown. This is specific to employee center. In other portals, when you create menu items, they were in the header. Now with Employee Center, custom menu items, they are on a line below.

To edit that global menu and not have the options appear with the "More" menu, but elsewhere, like the old Service Portal, you'd have to edit the widget. Here's a similar discussion here: https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_question&sys_id=9de469d81b280d50acdc54e56b4b...

And just to mention it, it's not recommended to clone the widget, etc. as you'll lose upgrade features, etc. and you'd have to review this each time you upgrade the app, etc. if necessary.

Hello,

Perhaps your post is a bit confusing because you circled an area on the screenshot, but then you asked/spoke about the global header menu. Where my post is talking about...is the global header area. Which is indicated by the "More tasks" More" selections in your screenshot.

In the employee centre portal, there are two separate menues. Both menus are configurable and won't recommend customising those. Let me know if you still have any questions!

1) The first at top right corner is the traditional main menu which you can easily configure through menu option.

2) Top left main mega menu configured through taxonomy.

Thanks all for the replies. We're still figuring out what we want to do with Employee Center Pro, so not entirely sure how we're building out the menu items versus the taxonomy menu. The ask here was how to setup the portal menu items to display in the upper right. From the sounds of it, this will be custom and we can code that if needed.
