Is it OK or not OK to associate more than 1 taxonomy to the Employee Center portal?

Hi - Listening and reading about Employee Center, I repeatedly heard that one can NOT associate more than 1 taxonomy to Employee Center.
However, in the Employee Center Portal configuration, I can see that this piece of configuration is modeled via a Related List. So my question is twofold:
- Why not using a simple reference field if only one taxonomy is supported?
- If the above is confirmed, why even managing multiple taxonomies? I am struggling to understand the use case.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
We are using only one custom Taxonomy, though with multiple child topics. We did leave the out-of-the-box Taxonomy as is and just disabled the relationship, and created a Taxonomy for IT and for HR.
If my answer helped you in any way, please then mark it as helpful.
Kind regards,
Mark

Hi
Yes!! You have heard is right, you can associate only one taxonomy to Employee Center.
1. You cannot use reference field as we are leveraging Employee center from different scopes/ Applications.
Taxonomy of a service is an important term to understand, and there are two ways to think about this:
- a classification scheme for services that establishes defined patterns of conduct, reusable business rules, layers of commonality, and architectural and design patterns for building solutions … or
- Identify the service and say what it does and why.
2. Everybody who so ever is using multiple portals in ServiceNow has been asked to start use one unified portal which is Employee center. So one portal can have only one taxonomy. so people stop using multiple portals and start using only one portals which eventually enhances employee experience.
Now to understand a few use cases:
