How to capture application modules for a business application for APM.

We are currently deploying, Enterprise Architecture for our organization.  I have seen the ServiceNow recommendations for capturing Modules for a Business Application, i.e., ServiceNow with the incident, change, Problem... modules.  What other methods have you used to create these records in your deployments.

We have used the SDLC component to capture the parts (modules) of a Business Application, the SDLC component are independently deployable piece of code. Each SDLC component is lined with an Application Service that get mapped to infrastructure CIs.
