Hi,
Due to a business requirement, we would like to add Partially Effective as one of the options for Design/Operation Effectiveness field in a Control Test. The current options that we have configured are Effective & Ineffective. What are the impact of adding a new drop down option of Partially Effective. Will it be a Customisation of the ServiceNow OOTB instance if we add this value? Any down stream impacts of adding this value? Please provide your valuable thoughts.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks,
Prash

HI @Prashanth Velam ,
I trust you are doing great.
Here are the impacts and downstream considerations:
Customization: Adding the "Partially Effective" option will require modifying the existing options for the "Design/Operation Effectiveness" field. This customization can be done by following these steps:
a. Navigate to the ServiceNow instance as an administrator. b. Go to the Control Test table definition. c. Modify the "Design/Operation Effectiveness" field to include the new option "Partially Effective" in the dropdown list.
Impact on Reporting: After adding the "Partially Effective" option, it is important to consider the impact on reporting. Existing reports and dashboards that rely on the "Design/Operation Effectiveness" field may need to be updated to accommodate the new option. This ensures accurate analysis and reporting of control test results.
Training and Documentation: Once the customization is complete, it is crucial to update training materials and documentation to reflect the addition of the "Partially Effective" option. This helps users understand the new choice and ensures smooth adoption of the updated Control Test functionality.
Integrations and Workflows: If there are any integrations or workflows that rely on the "Design/Operation Effectiveness" field, they may need to be reviewed and updated to handle the new option appropriately. This ensures consistency and proper handling of data throughout the system.

@Amit Gujarathi Thank you very much for providing the options. Is this change considered to be a Major Customisation? Has this been done in other client sites they you may know? In the past we were advised not to customise these values due to impacting the OOTB setup. Any thoughts?

No Prashant, It will be falling into low customisation.

Hi @Prashanth Velam ,
I have checked there is no Business rules running or UI policies running on those fields, so it shouldn't impact anything and adding options to Design/Operation Effectiveness field in a Control Test is a green Signal. Please go ahead.
