Facing issue in generating Business Application type entities from Entity Type

Hello Experts,

I am facing issue in generating Business Application Type entities from cmdb_ci_business_app table. I have total 281 active records in the table. Although the count of entities are matching, but 113 out of those are getting created with blank Owner and Class value.

But the field, which I have mapped to be the owner in the Entity Type Filter, is having values for all of them. Most surprisingly, even the class is not getting mapped. Has anyone faced such issue ever? Here are some snaps for better view:

Hi @Satanik Dutta G ,

When you are checking the box for " Use Owner field, please remember below :

Option to use the owner field. The owner is the identified risk owner associated with the entity type. This condition uses the Owner field information in the query. When the check box for this field is selected, the following fields are displayed:

  • Owner field: Select a table before modifying the Owner field. Then, select the owner to be associated with the new entity filter.
  • Default owner field: Select a default owner from the list.
  • Empty owner field: Select one of the following options:
    • Create: Create an owner for the entity filter.
    • Do not create: Do not create a new owner for the entity filter.
    • Use Default: Use the default owner for the entity filter.

Also, try to remove the checkbox on "Auto-update Owner" from your screenshot.

@Satanik Dutta G - please let us know the version of the GRC application you are using and the family release. That. will make a difference in our answers.

Here are a few notes:

  • The most recent versions will not allow you to create an entity with a blank owner.
  • If you have entities showing up without an owner and class - check the create date on the record. It sounds like those entities may have been created by a previous entity filter back when these fields were not required.  And don't forget that there will only ever be ONE entity for a source record - and the entity filter that creates it first is what drives these fields.

I looked at your filter - the only thing you could provide is a screen shot that shows that all 281 records really do have the IT Application owner field filled in.  If that is true, then you probably need to submit an incident in Now Support.

Hi @Jan Spurlin ,

We are implementing GRC 16.0.0 in Utah version currently.

I have restructured the entity filter and repopulated the data. But everytime its excluding those exact 113 records from the list. I checked and could not find any discrepancy in the data. Unfortunately I cannot share the screenshot of the entities due to organization policy. But the (281 - 113) 168 records are perfectly getting created with the Owner and Class details.

Not sure why only these specific 113 records are getting excluded even though they have owners in IT Application Owner field.

All I can share is the count of the Business Application table with IT Application Owner not empty.

Thanks,

Sounds like you are in a lower environment and can test a few things out.  I would start by changing the filter value for "Empty Owner" from "do not create" to "default owner" - and then put in a default owner.

A second test - identify one of the source records that is not generating an entity - put that name in your conditions and try it just for that record and see if it gets generated.
