Hello  ,

It’s great that you are learning the ServiceNow IRM (Integrated Risk Management) module. A good way to approach IRM is to learn the modules step by step so you can understand how policies, risks, controls, and audits are connected within the platform.

You can start with Policy and Compliance Management. In this module, you will learn how organizations create and manage internal policies and regulatory requirements. Try to understand the policy lifecycle, which includes creating a policy, approving it, publishing it, and sending it for user acknowledgment or attestation. You should also explore concepts like policy statements, authority documents, compliance frameworks, and controls, because controls help ensure that policies are actually being followed. Practicing tasks like creating a policy, linking it with statements, and performing policy attestation will help you understand the compliance process.

After that, move to Risk Management, which is the core part of IRM. Here you will learn how organizations identify and evaluate risks that could impact their business. Focus on concepts such as risk identification, risk assessment, inherent and residual risk, and risk scoring. You should also understand different risk response types like accept, mitigate, transfer, or avoid. In ServiceNow, risks are tracked through risk records and assessments, and organizations often use dashboards or heat maps to monitor them.

Finally, learn Audit Management, which helps organizations check whether their policies and controls are working properly. In this module, you will study audit planning, audit engagements, audit tasks, evidence collection, and audit findings. If any issues are discovered during an audit, they are tracked through remediation or issue management.

By learning these modules in this order—Policy & Compliance -- Risk Management-- Audit Management—you will get a clear understanding of how ServiceNow IRM helps organizations manage governance, risk, and compliance activities on a single platform.
