Dear experts,

I would like to ask how to trigger a control test to happen? Because when I want to initiate a new control test I cant seem to find the new button anywhere or create button under the control tabs in the control test tab as well. May I know what is the proper way to trigger a control test?

HI @ChuanYanF ,

Control tests are not created from the control record !!

Control Testing is a part of Audit management. You will have to use Audit workspace not Compliance Workspace.

These are the ways to create the control tests :

1. Automatically generate control tests from an engagement

List> Execution> All Engagements > Open any Engagement record which is one of the following states:

  • Validate
  • Fieldwork
  • Awaiting approval

In the Audit Tasks Related List, click New Activity > New Control Test

2. Automatically generate control tests from an engagement

  1. Navigate to All > Audit > Engagements > All Engagements.
  2. Open the engagement for which you want to generate control tests.
  3. Click the Test Plans related list.
  4. Select the test plans for which you want to generate control tests.
  5. Click Generate Control Tests.

I know that the control testing functionality resides in the Audit module, but there is a need at least in my company to use the control testing functionality by 2nd line functions like Group Compliance and Group Risk, so would it be advisable to use the Audit module for a 2nd line perspective /our Group Audit do not use ServiceNow), or is it something to avoid?

Hi @j_rgengrundstr_ absolutely, 2LOD should use Audit module for control testing, Infact 3LOD solution is not in detail in ServiceNow Audit management so we generally avoid, Audit Module for 3LOD. We are using Audit Management Module for both 1LOD & 2LOD across Risk workstream, Compliance workstream etc.
