Hello All,

I would like to understand the need of 'Maximum RTO' in the impact category creation form. what happens if i set it to 1 month and my BIA's RTO comes as 2 month.

Thank you

Sunil

The Maximum RTO in the impact category sets the longest allowed recovery time for any business process in that category. If you set it to 1 month and your BIA’s RTO is 2 months, ServiceNow will not automatically accept 2 months. Instead, it may show an error, or adjust the RTO to 1 month, or require approval to allow a longer recovery time. This ensures that all processes recover within the organization's acceptable limits.

The Maximum RTO acts as a hard limit in BCM, and the BIA cannot automatically take an RTO longer than this limit without manual intervention or approval. If your BIA requires a longer RTO, you must adjust the Maximum RTO or request for approval.
