A question that I'd appreciate a second set of eyes on: we are setting up Policy Exception and investigating the difference between two properties and how they interact. (Accessed through Policy and Compliance > Administration > Properties module)
1 - "The default approval span assigned for policy exception"
2 - "Default duration for which a policy exception can be requested"
The second one clearly determines the max duration of a policy exception including extensions. But I haven't been able to figure out what the first one does and if it is relevant at all. Based on their names, I originally thought the first one is the max length of a policy exception without an extension request. But if I set the first one to 30 and the second one to 90 then I can still submit a request up to 90 days without the need for an extension (disproving that the first one is the increment and the second one is the total with extensions). In addition, if the additional approval capability is used (regardless of which PE approval rule is applied), then even that table doesn't seem to have an approval span field or anything. So I guess the question becomes: What does the first property listed do? If it's deprecated, don't you think it'd be hidden from the properties module I listed.
Thanks in advance

Hi @JF7 ,
1 - "The default approval span assigned for policy exception" : It's the maximum days offered to the Approver to approve a policy exception.
2 - "Default duration for which a policy exception can be requested" : Maximum days given for a policy where you can request an exception.
So example, if it's 30 days, you have 30 days at maximum to request for an exception.

Hi @JF7 did you figure out this question? I'm also having the same doubts.
@Community Alums regarding your answer on 1 - "The default approval span assigned for policy exception" : It's the maximum days offered to the Approver to approve a policy exception.
How do we test this? Will there be a validation if approver didn't approve by the said approval span?
