I'm looking into possibilities for enabling real-time review of 'Policy' records. This should prevent any changes to the Policy state and 'Valid To' date, ensuring that each policy remains accurate, up to date, and is reviewed on a regular basis without moving from Published state.
If a Policy requires updates, the user can transition it out of the 'Published' state. However, if no changes are needed, I’d like to capture the user’s acknowledgment without altering the Policy’s state or its 'Valid To' date.
I’d appreciate it if you could share your insights based on any similar use cases you’ve come across.

You could simply add a comment of the user to the policy doc activity list. This does not need any changes in state. The accountable user can provide this e.g. 'Checked for accurcy/validity,; all good; no need to change or re-publishing'. That should do the trick.
