I need to create a report in ServiceNow that contains more than 70 columns. I started building a List report and was able to add all the required columns. However, after adding many columns, the report begins to show incorrect data — it repeats the most recent record multiple times. When the report contains up to 30 columns, the data displays correctly; but once I add more than 30 columns, the data becomes inaccurate.

How can I resolve this issue?
Is there a ServiceNow KB article related to this problem?
Is there any way to increase the column limit for list reports?

Hi @SuneelaC ,

ServiceNow list reports and views with a very high number of columns (especially over 30 or 50) often cause display issues, including incorrect data and repeated records. This is a known limitation tied both to platform performance constraints and the way the UI renders wide tables

There is a platform-imposed limit of about 50 columns for reliably displaying list/report data. Exceeding this causes inaccurate rendering and record duplication; breaking up your report and keeping columns ≤50 is the best practice

Recommendations

  • Reduce columns: Try to keep reports and list views to 30–50 columns max for performance and accuracy.

  • Multiple reports: Split into multiple targeted reports for different audiences/use cases.

  • Database/Export: For analysis needing >50 columns, export data via Excel/CSV for external review—but note that export may also have limits.

  • Sections or Forms: If customizing forms, create sections to organize fields and avoid display problems.

  • Contact HI Support: If business requirements mandate wide reports, ServiceNow support may offer advice or review custom solutions (no guarantee for higher limits).
