Quick Start Guide - Receive Assets on a Purchase Order  

If you are starting your journey with ServiceNow’s Hardware Asset Management, this guide will provide a brief overview of how to receive assets with key relevant information. 

 

Why Should I Prioritize Asset Receiving Process? 

It is important that your asset records include associated receiving detail to ensure you have complete visibility into your estate. You should take steps to ensure that you can answer the below questions when reviewing an asset record: 

  • When did I receive this asset? 
  • Where did this asset come from? 
  • What is this asset’s Asset Tag and Serial Number? 

Assets can be received and added to the system when they are delivered to a stockroom. If assets have not been created prior to the receiving process, they can be created during receiving, either on desktop or via mobile. Improve your records by capturing important information like Asset Tag and Serial Number and associating them with the asset in the system.

Proper documentation is crucial to maintain accurate records of assets, making it easier to use ServiceNow HAM to track their location, status, and usage throughout the lifecycle.
