ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management on the Now Platform Xanadu release
ServiceNow® Hardware Asset Management is essential for minimizing stockroom inventories and resource wastage at the outset of the lifecycle. Value is provided from the beginning to end of the lifecycle – asset managers harness valuable insights from end-of-life (EOL) and end-of-service (EOS) data to aid hardware refresh planning. This approach mitigates risks associated with aging assets while optimizing costs through systematic purchasing methods. It helps meet compliance with security protocols for lost or stolen devices, regulatory requisites, and environmental disposal standards.
Hardware Asset Management streamlines the technology lifecycle with pre-set workflows aligned with industry best practices. These workflows reduce manual processes, enhance efficiency, and provide improved experiences for employees and customers, without relying on many tools.
In the Now Platform® Xanadu release, there are four core capabilities for ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management:
- Device as a Service (DaaS)
- Zero touch request
- Inventory picking with indoor maps
- Inventory repair
Device as a Service (DaaS)
Device as a Service (DaaS) providers struggle to manage their DaaS asset estate efficiently due to manual processes and disconnected systems. With Device as a Service, providers can manage their entire DaaS inventory from one command center to view. With this single platform, DaaS providers will be able to fulfill orders with scalable tasks to pick, pack, and ship incoming requests and respond to Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) via workflows that leverage automation to ensure asset accuracy.

Zero touch request
Hardware asset requests from external providers can be time-consuming due to internal touch required from employees. Integrations with external providers also require local IT engagement. With Zero touch request, these requests can be automated and fulfilled without internal touch. This low code workflow saves both time and cost for organizations. Zero touch request also improves distributed or remote employee experiences during onboarding and off-boarding.
Inventory picking with indoor maps
Asset managers need an interactive task to pick assets within a stockroom from inventory. It’s also essential to have mobile UI functionality when picking assets to make locating, retrieving, and scanning assets more efficient and accurate. With inventory picking with indoor maps, asset managers can utilize an interactive pick task feature to retrieve stock from inventory for fulfillment. Users can use their mobile device to leverage floor maps for directions to assets then scan selected assets. This capability would help asset managers and inventory and warehouse personnel complete tasks on the go with greater accuracy and efficiency.
Inventory repair
When organizations evaluate assets, they need a scalable repair process to get defective assets with useful lives back into service. Inventory repair is a low code prescriptive workflow that helps streamline asset repairs for optimal performance. Users can select defective assets to trigger the repair process to return assets into service. Through testing and quality control, asset managers can verify if assets are operable and ready to be deployed or if the assets should be disposed instead. Ensuring proactive and effective repairs can help prevent the need for more extensive and costly maintenance in the future or defective assets from being forgotten or unnecessarily disposed.
ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management optimizes inventory requests, picking, and repair from the beginning to the end of the asset lifecycle. With these key features from the Xanadu release, organizations can fulfill and automate requests without internal touch, pick assets from stockrooms, and repair defective assets efficiently. Device as a Service also brings a new offering for DaaS providers to manage their entire inventory, fulfill orders, and respond to RMAs.
