Hello @Rajani11 ,

The purchase Order Line Task is a record that represents a specific task or activity related to a purchase order line item. The purpose of the Purchase Order Line Task is to help track and manage the various steps involved in fulfilling a purchase order, from initial request through final delivery and payment.

Some common use cases for Purchase Order Line Tasks might include tracking the status of an order, coordinating with vendors or suppliers on delivery dates, managing inventory levels, and processing invoices and payments.

The fields on the Purchase Order Line Task record can vary depending on your organization's specific needs and processes. However, some common fields might include task description, assigned user, due date, priority level, and status.

While it is not strictly required to use Purchase Order Line Tasks in ServiceNow's Procurement application, they can be helpful for organizing and streamlining your procurement processes. By breaking down each purchase order into discrete tasks or activities, you can more easily track progress and identify bottlenecks or areas for improvement.

Thanks

Hi Amarjeet,

Thanks for the detailed response. Specifically I want to know what the value add/purpose of having the purchase order line tasks since we already have most of the fields on purchase order tasks.

Also when are multiple purchase order line tasks created?

Thanks in adv,

Rajani

Hello @Rajani11 ,

I understand your concern related to tasks and items , Hope below response may clear your confusion little bit.

The value add of having Purchase Order Line Tasks is that it allows for better tracking and management of tasks associated with specific line items on a purchase order. While the Purchase Order Task may contain some fields related to these tasks, having a separate record for each task associated with a specific line item allows for more granular tracking and management of these tasks.

Multiple Purchase Order Line Tasks can be created when there are multiple steps or approvals required for a specific line item on a purchase order. For example, if a line item requires goods to be received and verified before payment can be made, separate tasks could be created for receiving the goods, verifying their quality, and updating inventory records. Each task can then be assigned to the appropriate party responsible for completing that task.

Thanks
