We have a setup with 15 stockrooms in Hardware Asset Management, where the first stockroom acts as the parent and the other 14 are child stockrooms. According to the stock rules, when a product is requested, the system first checks availability in the parent stockroom, and if it is not found, it sequentially checks across all 14 child stockrooms.
This process can sometimes take a long time if the asset is not available in any of the stockrooms. My question is:
At what stage does Procurement come into the picture?
Does Procurement only get triggered after all stockrooms (based on stock rules) have been checked and no inventory is found?
Or is there another point in the process where Procurement actions are initiated?
I would appreciate a clear explanation of how, when, and at what stage Procurement integrates with the stock check process in ServiceNow.

Request submitted → The system applies the stock rules.
Parent stockroom is checked first.
If not available, each child stockroom is checked in sequence.
If asset is found → It is reserved/fulfilled from the stockroom (no Procurement involved).
If asset is NOT found in any stockroom → Only after all stockrooms are exhausted does Procurement come into the picture.
At this point, a procurement request (Purchase Order/Request Item) can be triggered to source the asset externally.
Answer: Procurement actions start only after the full stockroom chain check is completed and no inventory is available to fulfill the request.
