If you’ve read the What’s New in Rome for HR Service Delivery blog, you’ve probably heard of Journey Accelerator (part of Employee Journey Management). If you’re looking for more information, you’ve come to the right place!
Note: Journey Accelerator is also available on the ServiceNow Store for HR Service Delivery Enterprise customers and has quarterly releases. This blog post discusses features available in Journey Accelerator V2.0 which is available with the Rome family release. For more information, see the end of this post on how to get Journey Accelerator.
Journey Accelerator allows managers to create action plans for their employees as they navigate important journeys like onboarding, offboarding, leaves, and more. These action plans are meant to encompass functional, role, or team specific activities that will help an employee through their transition. Administrators can create templates, based on one or more audiences, to help managers build these action plans. You can even trigger the action plan creation from a lifecycle event, bringing together the full journey experience.
Want an example of how Journey Accelerator can help your employees and managers? One great use case is for ramping up employees into a new role. All employees will likely have common, organization-wide onboarding activities, such as compliance training, signing forms, and background checks that can be triggered from a Lifecycle Event. However, after the initial standard steps are complete, every ramp up experience looks different based on the team, department, and role. With Journey Accelerator, administrators (with the help of L&D or training teams) can build department or location-specific templates to drive functional ramp up processes. Managers and mentors can add their own team ramp up activities to the action plan. Employees can then access all the trainings, coffee chats, skill-based learnings, and other activities required to be fully ramped up into their new role from their action plan.
This blog covers the features at a high-level, but you can watch this Academy Session for more details on how to configure the feature and best practices.
Trigger an action plan directly from a Lifecycle Event
If you’re using Lifecycle Events, you may want to automatically trigger an action plan in Journey Accelerator from the Lifecycle Event. This will ensure the plan is created without a manager needing to manually create the action plan. Administrators can add a task to the Lifecycle Event to trigger an action plan for the Subject person. You can also easily map certain relevant fields from the Lifecycle Event case to the Action Plan (e.g. mapping the employee start date as the publish date of plan).
Note: This feature is only available on instances with Rome.
Trigger Action Plan from Lifecycle Event
Manager can assign a mentor and customize the plan
When creating a plan, or after the plan was automatically created from a Lifecycle Event, managers can assign a mentor to help the employee through their journey and action plan. The mentor (this term can be renamed) can customize the plan with their own activities necessary for the employee journey. Managers and mentors can add new stages and to-dos and modify existing to-dos. Once done, they can publish the plan immediately or schedule the plan to be published.
Manager Create Action Plan
Employee can complete the plan
Once the plan is published, the employee can view their action plan from the employee portal and work through their to-dos at their own pace. They may have to-dos related to learning, completing certifications, or scheduling coffee chats. Starting with Journey Accelerator V2.0, employees can even schedule events directly in Outlook from Journey Accelerator (see the product documentation for more details on configuring the Microsoft Exchange Online integration for scheduling in Journey Accelerator).
