How to handle position control in HRSD

We have ServiceNow HRSD and we are looking, high level, at implementing position control within out org. I’ve heard that using the following two out-of-the-box tables is how ServiceNow recommends to do this:

 

- Jobs Table — to track all the jobs (which I think of as positions) a person can have, which can include a “primary job” and be a many-to-one relationship with users
- Position Table — to track all the job “classifications” and essentially be a dictionary of all the different job classes/classifications/etc


I’m looking to confirm that this is the right general approach and what others have done.
