HR on-boarding workflow/process OOTB?

Does ServiceNow contain an HR on-boarding workflow/ process out of the box? or how can it be implemented?

There are several examples OOB for use with HR


This comes with the HR Application


May depend on version you are on.

Hi Fred,



I find an answer under the documentation of the istanbul version. All the plugins you refer will not be available for new deployments in the istanbul version. I activated the last 4 ones and I could not find the workflows.   I suppose that I have to use Helsinki for my tests.

Is this true?   I just upgraded my sandbox to Istanbul and cannot find any HR plug-in's either   This is the list I have - all have been activated.

Should we pull these up from Helsinki?   Need some help as we are working on an on-boarding guide for Q1-2017 Implementation.   Thanks!

It probably helps to start by explaining that there are two versions of the HR app/plugins.   The first version was the original HR application that used the plugins in Fredrick's screenshot.   The plugins shown in your screenshot are for the new scoped HR app introduced in Istanbul.   The scoped app is a rewrite of the original HR app that allows HR to have more control over HR data in ServiceNow and administer aspects of the system outside of IT (more details can be found on the Human Resources Service Management (HRSM) — Istanbul Updates Overview thread).



The onboarding templates you referenced were part of the Workflow Editor in Helsinki (original non-scoped app).   Creating your onboarding process in the editor involved drawing out each branch of the process flow which can quickly become overwhelming for complex processes.   Tasking enhancements introduced in Istanbul now make it much easier to create onboarding workflows without needing to use the Workflow Editor.   The new lifecycle events model allows workflows to be created using a combination of HR Services and HR Templates, making the out of the box Workflow Editor templates for onboarding not as relevant as they were in Helsinki.

onboarding in   istanbul going to configure ,so I need more details about the after ready state ,how the workflows to move ,what are the thing involved in this..can you please explain in this ,whether hr profile will create automatically in the workflow and what are task involved in this .

You may want to see what we release in Jakarta with a new HR Enterprise on boarding/off boarding application.


Note it is a new licensed application but it accomplishes a lot of processes and workflows associated with onboard and offboard both from a user and fulfiller perspective.
