Generating approvals for HR Services

Hello All ,

I am just getting started learning HR Service delivery and have a basic question. I know that workflows shouldn't be used when setting up an HR service (Jakarta) and i've been trying to set up service activities as an alternative and haven't had much success.  The first activity that I need is to generate an approval. However I am not sure how this is set up through the form...I thought it should have been pretty basic. As seen in the screenshot the approvers field is blank, so how would one select who needs to approve the request? Also if one wanted to generate notifications if for instance the approval is approved  what would be the best approach this in the context of HR. Hope this was clear...

Hi Jad(the Parker),

I'm not familiar with 'service activities' but we are using HR Services to our business through the portal to our employees - I use approval tasks all the time for these services and I do this using workflow currently.    This works great and also ensure I can use the OOTB Approval notifications etc... so it all links together nicely.  And we are also on Jakarta.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Carl.

In Jakarta the approvers are inherited from the HR Service. If you go to the HR Service Configuration and select approvers when you create the Approval Service Activity, you will see the field populated with the approver(s).

In Kingston, this has been enhanced to provide additional functionality that allows you to use variables from the case (i.e. Subject Person's Manager), as one option. You have additional flexibility in select approvers and approval groups.

Mike

Did not notice that or see it anywhere in the documentation thank you! For conditions and a more complicated workflow type process is it possible to create cases with workflows or attach standard workflows to the services? I didn't see an option for that?

@Jadtheparker - Yes it is possible to create cases with workflows. In the workflow you can set the trigger condition to be the 'HR Service' that you want it to trigger. Alternatively, You can select fullfilment type on HR Service and map the workflow with the HR Template mapped to the HR Service,  you will see workflow will auto populate there in the workflow field of HR Service

Hope this helps !
