Play .wav files diectly in workspace

Howdy all - trying to figure out something that seems like it should be straightforward (alas, it is not)... I'm in HRSD, in HR Agent Workspace, trying to figure out how to have a window or pop-over that appears and plays .wav attachments when the attachment is clicked.

I know there's a Horizon audio player component, but I can't seem to get it to bind the attachment in the case to the component, so it's not playing anything.

We used to be able to listen to voicemails (.wav) in-window in CoreUI so why this was regressed when we moved to Workspace is lost on me.

Any and all help or insights would be appreciated!!!

Hi Buddy,

I hear you;  HR Agent Workspace doesn’t support inline playback of .wav attachments out of the box the same way Core UI did, so clicking the attachment won’t automatically open a player.

The Horizon audio player can work, but it won’t bind directly to a case attachment on its own. It needs a source URL to play. The usual approach is to capture the attachment click, pass the attachment URL into the audio player, and open it in a modal or pop-over. That’s how most teams recreate the “in-window voicemail playback” experience in Workspace.

Another thing to check is how the attachment is stored:

  • make sure the content type is recognized as audio

  • confirm the file isn’t being forced to download by security settings

There isn’t a simple setting to restore the old Core UI behavior, so this typically ends up being a small Workspace customization rather than configuration.
