AIOps Experience

The AIOps Experience is a new app in the ServiceNow Store, featuring the capabilities Express List, Integrations Launchpad, and AIOps Dashboards. This new app has revolutionized the ITOM Health user experience through these new features in the Service Operations Workspace.

So far, I have covered Integrations Launchpad, and in this blog, I will go over the capabilities of the AIOps Dashboards.

If you have not already read my blog on Integrations Launchpad, and would like to learn more, click here.

AIOps Dashboards

Let me guess, you probably have a lot of custom dashboards that were created to understand how well ServiceNow IT Operations Management is working for your organization operationally and value wise, as well as to monitor your technology estate (e.g. Azure, Linux, etc.). Some of these custom dashboards may not even be in ServiceNow, and you are leveraging a different reporting software to create these dashboards. Hopefully you are not also manually uploading data into these dashboards, but I know the answer for some will be yes. If anything I said sounds relatable, that sure sounds like a lot of work to do and maintain. But keep reading, you are going to love the AIOps dashboards!

The AIOps Dashboards leverage performance analytics to provide certified out of the box (OOTB) dashboards for ITOM Health users in the Service Operations Workspace. These dashboards enable improved decision making and resource allocation, demonstrate ROI and value realization through ServiceNow, and increase efficiency in managing complex technology environments.

There are 3 types of dashboards that are part of the AIOps Dashboards, which are:

  • Operational
  • Value Realization
  • Technology

The dashboards can be filtered in various methods and can be customized if needed, although I think the dashboards we made are pretty great and I will show you how great later in the blog!

Note: We recommend duplicating the OOTB dashboards if you are customizing them so that the OOTB template is not saved over.

AIOps Operational Dashboard

The AIOps Operational dashboard covers all operational aspect of your AIOps estate:

  • Events and Alerts
  • Agent Health
  • HLA Operational

Operational Dashboard - Events and Alerts

For the Events and Alerts page, you can see trends and outcomes of the most recent events and alerts to understand performance trends, and an overview of events and alerts that have been received and processed. This information shows how well AIOps is working in your organization, and helps you understand potential areas of improvement. The trends and outcomes in the dashboard include:

  • Incident compression rate
  • Alert grouping coverage
  • Noise reduction (events to alerts compression)
  • Top 20 event sources
  • Alert grouping
  • Most impacted Configuration Items
  • Alerts without CI
  • Top 20 alert sources

Operational Dashboard - Agent Health

The Agent Health page shows you the live status of your agents and the distribution of the agents by version, MID server, and operating system. Instead of having to manage your agents individually or by looking at a table, you can quickly see how many of your agents are up and down (hopefully none). Agent information that is covered includes:

  • Agent status breakdown
  • Agent by data collection status
  • Silent/Off agents
  • Agent by version
  • Agent by MID server
  • Agent by OS

Operational Dashboard - HLA Operational

If you are using Health Log Analytics (HLA), you can also monitor the throughput and performance of HLA. The metrics we provide you OOTB include:

  • Number of logs processed
  • Alerts created by tags
  • Endpoints streamed
  • Logs by level state
  • Logs per application service
  • Logs per host
  • Error rate per application service
  • Error rate per component

AIOps Value Realization Dashboard

The Value Realization dashboard, you guessed it, helps you realize the value of AIOps with common KPI’s and charts that demonstrate how much of an impact (ideally positive) AIOps has in your organization, through information such as noise reduction and the impact to the business, over a specified time range.

AIOps Technology Dashboards

AIOps Technology dashboards cover a variety of environments that you likely have in your organization. The metrics that we provide vary by environment, as you can see in the example technology dashboards below, as there are different relevant metrics depending on what is being monitored.

The technology dashboards that we currently offer OOTB are:

  • VMware vSphere Monitoring
  • Windows Server
  • Azure Monitoring
  • AWS Monitoring
  • GCP Monitoring
  • HTTP

For the technology dashboards, there are additional filtering options, which allows you to filter by:

  • Time range
  • Configuration Item
  • Operating System
