Agentless ServiceNow Discovery vs Flexera Local agent

My business is looking at deploying Flexera for Software Asset Management.

I have received two conflicting views from the integrator, one person advised us to use the agentless ServiceNow Discovery to populate the ServiceNow CMDB and integrate the CMDB with Flexera, the other is advising we need to deploy the Flexera agent to all assets.

Can anyone provide their insights please? Note - I'm keen to use one discovery agent and process etc.

Thanks

Craig.

The ServiceNow CMDB is designed to be a federated database of multiple sources of configuration data. Each management system (SCCM, LANDesk, Cisco Prime, Solarwinds, etc) have their own strengths and scope that are all useful alongside SN Discovery.

Both your advisers are correct: you should do both Discovery and integrate with Flexera during the deployment of the agent. It's more to do with which elephant are you ready to tackle. If you are using ServiceNow for your SAM practices, then I would agree that integrating the two systems would strategically make the most sense for you now. Otherwise, I'd focus on Discovery to enhance all of your currently implemented ITSM processes in the platform.
