Cloud Discovery Setup with Azure

Hello Team,

I am setting up the Azure cloud discovery in SNOW, It's only for cloud devices discovery. Could you please suggest what all are the prerequisites and steps to be followed.

- Do I need to setup a dedicated MID server on the Azure cloud?

- Do I need to active any additional plugins as default plugins were already active for ITOM discovery modules

- Does it required any additional licensing cost as I don't need CMP module for now, I only need to discover all the Azure cloud devices through the current SNOW discovery setup which I am using for Infrastructure discovery. Does the current setup capable enough to perform the cloud discovery.

- Does any subscriptions required, or it can be directly performed from the discovery schedules

- Do I need to setup any API based discovery

Thank you.

Hi,

- Do I need to setup a dedicated MID server on the Azure cloud?

You need MID Server for sure yes with proper application support and capabilities for Azure, REST,etc.

- Do I need to active any additional plugins as default plugins were already active for ITOM discovery modules

No additional plugin only Discovery is enough.

- Does it required any additional licensing cost as I don't need CMP module for now, I only need to discover all the Azure cloud devices through the current SNOW discovery setup which I am using for Infrastructure discovery. Does the current setup capable enough to perform the cloud discovery.

This will follow your Discovery license module. SO if you discover VMs on Azure then any virtual physical server as one license. But talk to servicenow account manager.

- Does any subscriptions required, or it can be directly performed from the discovery schedules

You need Azure Subscription and read-only rights from azure for this subscription so you can discover it.

- Do I need to setup any API based discovery: No, once you do this subscription and you have MID server then all things are handled by servicenow.

Thanks,
Ashutosh

Thanks Ashutosh for the details with correct path. Do I need to setup all below for the Azure Discovery or I need any additional things.

1. Adding Credentials (Service Principals) under MS Azure Discovery Module in SNOW from Azure Portal (Tenant ID, Client ID and Secret Key)
2. Accounts (Subscriptions) under MS Azure Discovery Module in SNOW
3. Adding Cloud Service Account

Also what about "Account ID" and from where this can be captured, from Azure portal itself

My current MID server is performing Infrastructure level Discovery (ESX;Windows, Linux, VMs, Network Components etc.), do I need any additional setup on the new MID server dedicated for cloud discovery or to be configured with similar setup.

Thank you.

HI,

Check this

1. Adding Credentials (Service Principals) under MS Azure Discovery Module in SNOW from Azure Portal (Tenant ID, Client ID and Secret Key)

You can add this to credentials table under discovery as below:

2. Accounts (Subscriptions) under MS Azure Discovery Module in SNOW

Explained above
3. Adding Cloud Service Account: Once you add the Azure Service Principal then nothing you have to do. So 3rd point not valid.
