Credentials Issues in Discovery

We are working on SAM Professional implementation and Oracle db is part of scope... However, in ABC Company  , ServiceNow discovery is not configured and has a pattern failure error due to invalid credentials..

 

So, the client has two questions : 

1) The applicative credentials to be created, do they need to be configured on each database for Discovery to discover ?

2) Whether a corporate directory be used for the credentials or is it going to just in ServiceNow Discovery ?

Hi,

 

The credentials needs to be provided to ServiceNow Discovery to be able to connect and fetch information from the devices. ServiceNow Discovery will need credentials that corresponds with the configuration that has been setup in the environment. If that is the same for all databases or if each database have unique credentials that is for the database or infrastructure team at your company to answer.

Oracle or Sql or Any DB - Basic Discovery is done using Host/Server OS credential. 

Applicative Creds are needed for SAM .

 

For both these below queries -

1) The applicative credentials to be created, do they need to be configured on each database for Discovery to discover ?

2) Whether a corporate directory be used for the credentials or is it going to just in ServiceNow Discovery ? 

 

First Talk to DBAs and see how they are managing Hundreds of DB . I doubt every Oracle DB they login for managing it  has unique User and Password just like windows /Unix Admins. 

Users can be centrally configured using Directory Services.
