De-Duplication Tasks created for only for Network Adapter Class

Hello Folks,

I am facing a issue where ServiceNow Discovery is the only source of Discovery, yet, it is still creating de-duplication tasks for Network Adapter discovery. The work notes of de-duplication tasks shows the below message.

Duplicate CIs are found based on criterion attributes specified in identification rules for the CI's class. All duplicate CIs will have identical values for below criterion attributes:

[cmdb_ci = 675a4e6c1b907c90a0c5ed7cee4bcb23]
[mac_address = 84:3A:5B:BF:BE:FE]

Also review Duplicate Audit Results (below). Duplicate CI has also dependency relationship with 'Depend on CI'

The weird part is, it also automatically deletes the duplicate record from the "Duplicate Audit Results" tab after sometime. Hence, I am not able to see which is the duplicate CI that is getting created. The "Duplicate Audit Results" tab looks something like this.

Here are the identification rules on cmdb_ci_network_adapter class

Any help on this would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @Pranav_Thanedar

Refer KB: KB0761045 [Duplicate Dependent CIs - Troubleshooting] Duplicate dependent CIs (network adapters, ser...

Resolution

  • Make sure we populate the dependency relationships if exists so no duplicates would be created.
  • Any CI import should go through the IRE engine so that the CIs are managed centrally with unique identification.
  • If the duplicates are already created manually delete them or use the CMDB remediation methods to address.
