Hello,
I am looking to define or edit the data source precedence rules for CI's. I found the below SNOW Doc for doing it through the CI Class Manager, but I was hoping there was a way to get it more granular. Example...we have 4 sources for creating CI's for computers, SCCM, Discovery, Help the Help Desk script and Manual Asset entry. The WMI Horizontal Pattern for Discovery is not bringing back the baseboard Serial Number instead of the system Serial Number. I would like to set preferences per table attribute, as it seems each method provides better data for the various attributes. I would like to set a hierarchy Reconciliation Preference for Serial Number, RAM, Hard Disk, Processer and so on.
Please let me know if there is somewhere else this can be set.
Thank you,
Barry Schultz

Hello Barry,
I've run into a similar situation myself combining sources from SNOW Software, Discovery and SCCM; to make it work correctly I had to set an order of precedence for each individual table in the cmdb, and then create a Reconciliation rule for each source.
In these, you can define access to individual fields per datasource; the key part is that for each table you create the Reconciliation rules for, only one of your datasource's can be considered your 'golden source'. So for that golden source you add the required fields to the 'Attributes' list, but for all other sources the same attributes are added to the 'Update with Null' list; this will ensure that the golden source is the only source that can update those fields.
