discovery_admin role

Hi All,

I am trying to discover my test server using servicenow discovery.

For that I need to assign discovery_admin role to the user running MID server. I am using serviecnow demo instance.

But I am not able to assign the discovery_admin role to the user I have created ( its not showing in the list).

Can any one help like how to assign the discover_admin role to user.

Hi Pradeep,

I am novice to servicenow. But somehow I got lucky to get the discovery_admin role.

We are thinking of using servicenow in our server. But before that I need to analyse what all data I can retrieve from discovery.

As you told that I can't get the discovery_admin role in public instance.

Could you please help me to test the discovery with test server.

Hi Sunny,

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to discover using a public instance.   However you would need a Mid Server installed pointing to that demo003 instance (and Pradeep is correct the Discovery plugin is not enabled on that instance). The user that connects to the instance needs the "mid_server" role, not "discovery_admin"   These links may be helpful ::

Be careful giving the discovery_admin role, as it also contains these roles:

The user account running the mid server within SN should get the "mid_server" role not the discovery admin role. The discovery admin role is for users who will be performing disco admin like duties.
