Discovery of Nasuni devices

We have a bunch of Nasuni devices that we are unable to discover. Theses are locked down so it's unlikely we'll be able to add an ID to scan them. Has anyone found a way to discover these? I'm trying to avoid manually adding devices into my CMDB.

We fixed this by enabling SNMP v3 on the Nasuni devices and then did this:

  1. run a discovery for one of them
  2. From Discovery, open ECC Queue
  3. Open up the "SNMP-Classify: xxxx OID's"
  4. Identify and copy the OID number (SNMPobjectID)
  5. Go to "Classification"
  6. Select "SNMP System OIDs"
  7. Create "New"
  8. Insert the following:
    • OID (from the ECC Queue)
    • Operator "Is"
    • Manufacturer
    • Model ID
  • Table = table you want the device to be in

Did you have to generate a specific username and password for the Nasuni Filer's web page? We are working with Nasuni Support to discover these devices and running into issues with authentication using SNMPv3 no matter what user name and password we use. From the filers web page we don't have the option to set Privacy and Authentication keys. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Craig,

Nasuni was less than helpful. They can look at Case #00165848 but I doubt they added what we did to that ticket.

We used SNMP v3.

We created an account, set "Authentication protocol" to "SHA", set the "Authentication Key" (it's the password for the account), set "Privacy Protocol" to "none" and left "Privacy key" alone.

I remember having a problem initially but these settings worked.

I appreciate the help and the fast response!
