Discovery of VMWare vCenter Photon Operating system

Hi All,

We are using ServiceNow discovery and we have a requirement to discover VMWare vCenter Photon Operating system but ServiceNow OOB doesn't support the Discovery of VMWare vCenter Photon Operating system as we do not have OOB probe and sensors for Photon OS.

We are planning to write a custom probes and sensors to discover VMWare vCenter Photon Operating system, Is anyone tried this already? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Any update? Our vCenters are on Photon as well. I have no issue discovering the Photon OS, but vCenter did not pull over. This is not a new environment so I'm confused as to why SNOW has not released anything and why there isn't even that much about it in the community.

So we upgraded our lower instances to Rome and I reloaded my discovery configs for our lab. Before I can the larger schedules, one looking at all systems and the other looking at all networking, I created a new schedule just looking at 2 IPs. Both being the IP of the vCenter servers being hosted on Photon OS.

Prior to running I again verified the Linux and vMware creds worked on those IPs.

The discovery was successful at this point. The linux servers were created along with the vCenter instances. Linux servers Operating System came over as 'GNU/Linux', but 'photon' is listed in the description.

The entire vMware infrastructure was also populated correctly.

I'm not sure what changed at this point, but wanted to relay the info.
