Hi  ,

Check this URL for details.:-

Service Graph Connectors in ServiceNow utilize MID Servers to establish connections with external systems and pull data for populating the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). MID Servers act as an intermediary, securely communicating with these external systems on behalf of the ServiceNow instance. Configuration involves setting up the MID Server with the necessary capabilities and credentials, and then configuring the specific Service Graph Connector to utilize that MID Server for data retrieval.

Depending on the service graph connector some require MID servers while others don't. If the data is hosted in a cloud provider they don't generally require a MID server, the instances gets the data directly. Some examples of this would the Service Graph Connectors for GCP, Azure, AWS. If the data is hosted on prem or behind a firewall then a MID server within that network is usually needed. An exmaploe of this would be something like SCCM.
